Terms of Service
Last updated 29 October 2026
These Terms set out the agreement between you and The Hospitality Code for using this platform: what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you.
1.About these terms
The Hospitality Code ("we", "us", "our") operates the training, certification, career preparation and opportunity discovery platform available at the-hospitality-code.com (the "Platform").
These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and us and govern your use of the Platform. By creating an account, studying a course, passing an assessment, buying a certificate or membership, or otherwise using the Platform, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Platform.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these Terms.
2.Who may use the Platform
- You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to enter into a binding contract where you live, to create an account.
- Use accurate information about yourself and keep it current, including the name printed on any certificate.
- One account per person. Accounts are personal and may not be shared or transferred.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password confidential. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access.
- You may not use the Platform if we have previously removed your access.
3.Accounts and access
Creating an account is free, and free accounts can study the introductory courses, practice interviews and use the career resources marked as free.
Some content and features require a paid certificate or a membership. We tell you the price and what it includes before you pay.
You may close your account at any time. Closing an account does not cancel a membership that is still billing, and does not entitle you to a refund for a period already paid.
4.Training, assessments and certificates
Our course material is designed as hospitality industry-aligned introductory training, built around applicable Canadian and U.S. hospitality practices and professional standards.
A Certificate of Completion is issued only after you pass that course's assessment. The certificate fee is shown on the course and at checkout, and is charged per certificate.
- A certificate is a record that you completed our own course and assessment. It is not a government accreditation, a professional licence, a diploma from an accredited institution, or a statement by any regulator.
- Every certificate carries an identifier and a public verification page. Verification confirms that we issued the certificate and records the completion date, nothing more.
- Do not alter a certificate, use another person's certificate, or present one you did not earn. We may revoke a certificate where it was obtained by misrepresentation, where payment is reversed, or where these Terms are breached, and we record the reason for the revocation.
- Course content, standards and assessments are updated over time. A certificate reflects the course as it existed when it was issued.
A certificate does not guarantee an interview, an offer of employment, a promotion, a visa or a particular wage. Employers make their own decisions.
5.Memberships and subscriptions
Memberships are offered on a monthly or annual basis and renew automatically at the interval and price shown when you subscribe, until you cancel.
You may cancel at any time from your account; a confirmation is shown when the cancellation takes effect. After cancelling, paid features stay available until the end of the period you have already paid for, and free-account features remain available afterwards.
If we change a membership price, we give advance notice before it applies to your next renewal, and you may cancel before then.
6.Payments and refunds
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered on the payment processor's secure interface and are not stored by us.
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise, and applicable taxes are added where required.
Certificate fees are non-refundable once the certificate has been issued. Membership charges are non-refundable for the billing period in which they are made; cancel before the next renewal to avoid a further charge.
If you believe you were charged in error, or twice for the same thing, contact us and we will investigate and correct a genuine error. Nothing in this section limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.
7.Jobs, global opportunities and third-party information
Job listings are gathered from employers' own recruitment feeds and careers pages. Applying takes place on the employer's website, under the employer's own terms and privacy policy.
The Global Opportunities directory lists third-party organisations, programmes and agencies. A verification status records what we checked and when; it is not an endorsement, a partnership claim, or a promise about any organisation's conduct.
- We are not an employer, a recruitment agency, an immigration consultant or a government agency. We do not sponsor work authorisations and we do not take part in hiring decisions.
- Sponsorship, authorisation and eligibility statements describe what a third party states about itself. Government decisions on visas and work permits rest solely with the relevant authority.
- Listings and programme details can change or close without notice. Confirm pay, hours, eligibility and authorisation directly with the employer or organisation before relying on them.
- Never pay a fee to obtain a job offer. Report any listing that asks you to.
8.News and third-party content
Hospitality Daily presents headlines and summaries published by other organisations, shown with attribution and a link to the original article. That content belongs to its publishers and is not ours; following a link takes you to the publisher's site under their terms.
Our own commentary, where we provide it, is clearly separated from publisher material. Where something looks inaccurate or broken, the reporting tools in the Platform allow you to tell us.
9.AI-assisted features
The career consultation, interview coaching and resume assistance use artificial intelligence to generate guidance based on what you provide. Output can be incomplete, generic or wrong, and may not reflect your local job market or the requirements of any particular employer.
These features offer career preparation guidance only. They are not legal, immigration, financial, medical or other professional advice.
You are responsible for reviewing, correcting and deciding whether to use anything they produce. Do not rely on generated content for a decision that matters without checking it against an authoritative source.
Interview practice stores your answers as text so your report can be produced; your spoken audio is not kept. Do not submit another person's confidential information or anything unlawful.
10.Your content
You keep ownership of what you create and submit, such as your resume, your interview answers and your comments on news stories.
You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display that content only as needed to run the features you use, for example building your resume, showing your comment under a story, or producing your practice report. We do not publish your resume or sell your content.
You confirm you have the right to submit the content you provide, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
11.Acceptable use
To keep the Platform useful and safe for everyone, you agree not to:
- scrape, harvest or bulk-copy content, or use automated tools to access the Platform beyond ordinary browsing;
- bypass paid access, share membership access, or reuse, resell or republish course material, films, or certificate artwork;
- misrepresent a certificate, impersonate another person, or create an account for someone else;
- upload malicious code, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or interfere with the Platform's operation or security;
- use the Platform for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms other members, employers or third parties.
12.Our intellectual property
The courses, training films, narration, assessments, certificate designs, promotional artwork, written guidance, logos and software that make up the Platform belong to us or to our licensors, and are protected by copyright and trademark law.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the material for your own career development. You may not record, redistribute, resell or use it commercially without our written permission.
13.Availability and changes
We improve the Platform continuously, which means features, courses, pricing structures and content may be added, changed or withdrawn. We aim to give reasonable notice where a change materially reduces something you have paid for.
We try to keep the Platform available at all times, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
14.Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that content is complete, current or suitable for a particular employer, country or role, or that using the Platform will result in employment, a promotion, a visa or any other outcome.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right you have under consumer protection law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
15.Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims connected with your use of the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) CAD $100.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost opportunities, lost income or profits, or loss of data.
This section does not limit our liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
16.Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or where continuing to provide access would put other members or third parties at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you an opportunity to respond.
You may stop using the Platform and close your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law, continue to apply.
17.Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada, and the courts of Alberta have jurisdiction over any dispute, without depriving you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country of residence.
If something goes wrong, contact us first and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve it before starting formal proceedings.
18.Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the Platform develops. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and the version in force is the one published here when you use the Platform.
Where a change materially affects your rights or a paid feature, we will notify you by email or in the Platform before it takes effect where the law requires it.
19.Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to The Hospitality Code. Write to us from the email address registered on your account, or from the address you used when contacting our team previously. We answer privacy requests within 30 days.
